Customizing Provided Playback Configurations
Article applies to:
- Sibelius 5, 6, 7
- EWQLSC Sound Sets
- EWQLSO Sound Sets
- LA Scoring Strings Sound Sets
- Miroslav Philharmonik Sound Sets
- Wallander Brass/Woodwinds Sound Sets
Description
The playback configurations included with a sound set package do not contain all of the sounds or devices required by a score.
Solution
We provide playback configurations with certain sound set packages that aim to cover the basics of the library to make setup faster and simpler, especially for those who aren't yet familiar with the Sibelius playback system. However, while they cover a relatively standard usage, we can't possibly cover every usage scenario you may require, so we encourage you to use provided playback configurations as a starting point for your own templates.
The best way to do this is to create derivative configurations that are based on the default provided configurations. This allows you to keep the original file unedited, either as a reference or for use in the future, but keep all of the settings to facilitate your customization.
To create a derivative configuration, select the provided configuration in the "Playback Devices" dialog and then select "New". In the dialog that comes up, enter a name for your new configuration and click "OK". You now have a new configuration with all of the settings of the provided configuration that can be freely edited without changing the original configuration.
